Peace begins with a smile.    - Mother Teresa

In late March 2022, GPW Nigeria brought smiles in the faces of children as the Nigerian Chapter visited different orphanages. The Nigeria team engaged with the children sharing stories, making donations and teaching them peacebuilding and protection against abuse and violence.

The Nigerian chapter reached over 50 children visiting three orphanages, i.e. Mujin Hope Foundation in Malamre community in North-Eastern region, United Methodist Church in Mile 6, Jalingo, Taraba State and Jamiyar Matam Arewa (ARA) in the Kaduna State. They spent quality time with the children by reading books and doing arts and crafts together.

GPW Nigeria donated storybooks, craft items and necessities as food and detergents. In addition, the children also learnt about GPW and its themes. Overall, the kids were happy and thanked GPW Nigeria for a happy day with smiles and the efforts behind it.

GPW Nigeria’s efforts have brought happiness in the faces of children. It is only when efforts transcribe to smiles at individual level, peace can be attained in societies, nations and the world. GPW is happy to support initiatives as such that which promotes peacebuilding at grass root level.
